About your tutor

I'm a qualified science teacher based in Halifax. Before training to teach, I worked as a science technician, setting up practicals, handling required apparatus and chemicals safely, and supporting students through the exact experiments they're later examined on at GCSE. That time in the prep room shaped how I teach now: I know where students lose marks in required practicals, because I used to help run them.

I trained through a PGCE in Science with a Chemistry specialism, teaching KS3 and KS4 science across two schools, where I built a habit of adapting lessons for different learners — including students with SEND and EAL needs — rather than teaching one lesson to the whole room.

My own background is in biomedical science, so alongside teaching I bring real lab and research experience: cell culture, microscopy, data analysis, and the kind of practical rigour that makes a chemistry or biology explanation actually stick.

Every session has a hypothesis, a method, and a result. That's the whole approach.

Ways to learn

One-to-one, or small group.

Both formats follow the same method. The difference is the room they happen in.

One-to-one

Fully personalised sessions

Every minute is spent on your child's specific gaps, at their pace, with a plan built around their exam board and target grade.

Group · max 6 students

Small enough to still get noticed

What makes my group tuition different is the cap: a maximum of six students per class. Small enough that your child still gets real time and attention, not lost in a crowd, while learning alongside peers at a similar level.

How sessions work

Three steps, every time.

01 — Hypothesis

Find out where marks are actually being lost

We start with past papers and current classwork to see exactly which topics or question types are costing marks, not a generic "weak at chemistry" guess.

02 — Method

Teach the concept, then drill the technique

Each session rebuilds the underlying idea properly, then practises the specific exam technique and command words that mark schemes reward.

03 — Result

Test it under exam conditions

Regular timed questions and required-practical style tasks confirm the topic has actually stuck, with a plan for what's next.
